This interactive and discussion based session will focus on ways we can provide an authentic audience, why an authentic audience is valuable. We'll also look at ways to build real ways to build responsibility through the power of choice in the classroom. We'll prepare some things to support these concepts so you can use them the next day in your class.

The 5 Whys is a pretty intuitive technique. It’s a simple, yet powerful, tool for finding the cause-effect relationship. In other words, you will know the exact reason why something has happened. By definition, this tool will let you find the root cause for problems in various areas and most powerfully — you can find the reason behind your own actions and feelings.

Long Term Projects: Connecting with Students, Parents, and the Community

How do you run a long term project where students are working on different projects, topics and with peers from different sections? I will share how I manage all of the information distribution of long term projects to students and tools for communicating with parents and community resources. These resources should help to stream line communication and work submission and open you up as the teacher to have mini conferences with students over the course of the project.

Participants will receive access to a variety of resources to make their own and use in their own classroom. All are welcome, but this primarily caters to the moderate/severe group where more frequent and individualized communication is necessary.
